Are You Ready?
So the New Year has begun and job seekers all over the country are scanning the job boards and newspapers. They will soon start (if they haven't already) sending out their CVs to anything and everything that looks relevant or vaguely interesting (depending on how desperate they are).
However, the vast majority of them will be wasting their time. The vast majority are unlikely to have even updated their CV since last year. The vast majority will have no plan of what they want to achieve and will rely mainly on Recruitment Companies to find them a position. As a result they will end up disappointed and blaming everyone but themselves for their failure.
Before you send out a CV look at it, review it and improve it. What is your job hunting plan? If you don't have one, think about what it is that you are looking for in a new job. What do you want to do? Where do you want to work? Do some research and find out what is out there.
Finally, take responsibility for your job search. Don't send a CV to a Recruitment Consultant and tell them to put you forward to any job they think is suitable. How should they know if you don't?
